Impossible is Just a Word (And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves)

One of our goals here at Relax and Reclaim is to help you to live as healthy as possible.

In addition to the numerous physical health tips we give you, we also like to share some self-improvement tips as well. Here's a few tips for you to ponder.

Picture this: you're lying in bed at 2 AM, scrolling through social media, when suddenly you're hit with a wave of inspiration. Maybe you want to be the next viral TikTok sensation.

Perhaps you dream of writing the Great American Novel. Or maybe you just fantasize about finally organizing that junk drawer that's been mocking you for three years.

We've all been there. Every single one of us has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody extraordinary.

But here's the plot twist that would make M. Night Shyamalan jealous: those dreams don't have to stay dreams. Science actually backs this up now, and the numbers might surprise you.

When Dreams Collect Dust (Like Your Gym Membership)

Let's be honest about what usually happens to our big dreams. They start with a bang. Maybe you even buy a fancy journal or download that productivity app everyone's raving about.

Then life happens. Work gets busy, Netflix releases a new season of your favorite show, and suddenly your dreams are gathering dust faster than that exercise bike you swore you'd use daily.

Over 80% of individuals perform better with specific, challenging goals than those with vague or no goals. Translation? Your dream of "getting healthier" is about as useful as a chocolate teapot, but "walking 10,000 steps daily" actually works.

The sad truth is that most of us get stuck in what I like to call the "someday syndrome." Someday I'll start that business. Someday I'll learn guitar.

believe in the positive

Someday I'll finally tell Karen from accounting what I really think about her habit of microwaving fish in the break room.

But you know what? Life could be spectacularly better if we just learned to aim higher and actually follow through.

The "I" Word That Kills Dreams Faster Than a Bad Yelp Review

The biggest villain in our goal-setting story isn't lack of talent or resources – it's that six-letter dream crusher: impossible. Most people get caught up thinking "I can't do this." It's too hard. It's too unrealistic. Nobody could possibly achieve that.

But hold up.

If everyone throughout history had thought that way, we'd still be sitting in caves, probably complaining about the Wi-Fi.

Remember the humble bumblebee?

Scientists once calculated that aerodynamically, it should be impossible for these fuzzy little guys to fly. Their wings are too small, their bodies too chunky.

According to physics, they should plummet to the ground like tiny, striped rocks. Fortunately, nobody bothered to inform the bumblebees of this scientific "fact." So they just kept flying, probably laughing at us humans and our silly calculations.

In our next chapter, we're going to tackle some of these “impossibilities” head-on. Are you ready?
