6 Secrets For Faster Hair Growth

Image
We’re back with some fresh beauty tips—and this time, it’s all about your hair .  Whether you’re prepping for a big event or just trying to tame things before a Zoom call, these updated tricks will help your hair look great and keep it healthy, too. Let’s get into this. Tip #1: Feed Your Hair from the Inside Out What you eat has a direct impact on your hair. If you want strong, shiny, vibrant hair , you’ve got to start in the kitchen. Here’s what your strands are craving: Vitamins A, C, D & E – These promote growth and scalp health. Leafy greens, sweet potatoes, citrus fruits, and avocados are all winners. Protein – Hair is mostly made of protein (keratin), so skimping on it can make your hair weak or brittle . Load up on eggs, beans, lean meats, or tofu. Omega-3 fatty acids – These help keep your scalp and hair hydrated. Find them in walnuts , flaxseeds, salmon, sardines, and chia seeds . Water – Dehydration = dry, dull hair. Aim to drink at least 8 cups a day. Y...

Sexiest Fruits (For Life & Love)

Image
In many parts of the world, Valentine's Day is celebrated as a holiday to commemorate romantic liaisons between two people in love (or lust, depending on your idea of love) with each other.  One way to symbolize romance on Valentine's Day is through trinkets or (usually unhealthy) food gifts.  I wanted to take this time to show you that Valentine's Day is also an opportunity to improve your health with some very sexy fruits. Enjoy! Nothing says romance quite like indulging in something sweet, juicy, and just a little bit decadent. Whether you're feeding them to someone special, savoring each bite for effect, or simply treating yourself to nature’s most tempting delights, these fruits are as seductive as they are nourishing. It's said that chocolate has a few benefits too.  😘 Apple Crisp, luscious, and irresistibly refreshing, apples are packed with fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants that support heart health.  They can aid digestion, help regulate cholesterol...

The Organic Advantage: A Fresh Look at Food Choices

Image
People debate about all sorts of issues, sports teams, politics, I've even heard debates about movies. But what about food? Not just any food, but organic food! The debate over organic versus conventionally grown food has been ongoing for years.  While experts can provide detailed insights, understanding the benefits of organic choices is important. Organic Foods Definition  The simplest definition of organic food is: food that is produced without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and it does not include genetically modified organisms (GMOs).  It utilizes sustainable farming methods that are environmentally friendly. Please also note that organic food is not always 100% pesticide chemical-free. We'll get back to that factor shortly. But first, here's a few good reasons to choose organic foods : 1. Flavor and Nutrition: Organic fruits and vegetables are often noted for better taste due to healthier soil and natural growing methods. Some recent studies sugg...

Real Food?

Image
Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well.  I wanted to share with you an experience I had with a long-time friend of mine while we were out one warm summer evening in downtown Chicago a few months (and believe me, we have had a lot of them here in Chicago) ago.  Let's take a brief intermission here, okay? This is not a story about diet and healthy meal plans (although we do highly recommend them here on Relax and Reclaim!). This is all about pre-concieved notions and a serious need to assimilate new information.  Sounds weird, doesn't it? You'll see how this plays out shortly. The Restaurant Compromise  Anyway, we were looking for a place to "cool our heels" so to speak and have more time to chat. My friend knows that I am a bit of a health fanatic, so he was quite apprehensive about suggesting some of his normal chow-down spots for us to get refreshments. You know, the places where "fat is king & lean is mean"?  Unhealthy foo...

Detoxify Your Body From Head To Toe: The Ultimate Wellness Solution

Image
At Relax & Reclaim , we’re committed to helping those who want to improve their health. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so we aim to provide a variety of practical approaches to guide you on this journey. If you’ve been following global health trends, you’ve probably noticed growing concerns about environmental toxins. Toxicity , a term that refers to harmful substances and their impact, is one of the biggest challenges we face today. What Is Toxicity In Humans? So, what exactly is toxicity? Simply put, it’s the harmful effects caused by pollutants—substances like GMOs , pesticides, PCBs , and petroleum by-products—that contaminate our environment. Every day, these pollutants reach us through the air we breathe, the water we drink, and even the food on our plates. While it’s nearly impossible to avoid all exposure, we do have some control over how we equip our bodies to manage these intrusions. This issue demands attention, and at Relax & Reclaim , we often get question...

Now That's Raw!! 2: One Great Raw Deserves Another

Image
Believe it or not, some readers asked if there was any difference between vegetarians and raw foodists.  They have their similarities AND are different at the same time.  We will attempt to break down the basic differences in the simplest terms available so that everyone has at least a clearer understanding of these culinary cultures. Here we go! 🌱 Vegetarians vs. Raw Foodists: What’s the Difference? Ever wondered if there's a difference between being vegetarian and following a raw food diet? The short answer—yes! But both lifestyles have one thing in common: a deep love for plants. 🥦 Vegetarian vs. Raw Foodist: Who Eats What? A vegetarian skips meat, fish, and poultry, sticking to plant-based foods like veggies, grains, and legumes. Some enjoy dairy and eggs (lacto-ovo vegetarians), while others avoid all animal products altogether (vegans). A raw foodist , on the other hand, takes things a step further. Their diet consists mostly of uncooked, unprocessed, and often organic...

Better Late Than Never....

I wanted to provide a posted answer to Mr. Freitag's inquiry about looking good shirtless. Depending on numerous health factors and related weight issues, a good program to get the desired effects has to encompass not only a balanced meal plan but a solid work out regimen as well. There are of course, a lot of options out there for people to choose from and no doubt you may be able to name a few dozen at will. Here are a few tips for you: For natural weight loss, I would recommend initiating the elimination of body toxins first. A good fiber-rich program that is designed to provide a gradual weight loss while cleansing your colon. You can get results in a relatively short period of time.   A good diet plan is a little tougher to come by because many of these programs only address a single aspect of health maintenance (carbohydrate control, fat loss, muscle building, etc).  To achieve the desired effect of a lean body it would be advisable to get on a meal plan that provides al...

Fighting Allergies...Naturally (Part 2)

Image
What if there was no allergic rhinitis (hay fever)? What would your life be like without this condition? Did you know that at least 20% of the population in North America are affected by this condition each year? Once, long ago, it was rare to find someone with seasonal affected allergies... Steps to allergy relief The first step toward getting relief from allergic reactions (or overreactions) is to find the causes of your allergy and then make every effort to avoid them. However, even under the most ideal scenarios, this can be nearly impossible . Multiple allergens may have the potential to affect a person in the same manner (sneezing, coughing, itchiness, etc). You could literally be hunting down allergens for months to try isolating a single catalyst.  One approach is to tackle the allergens simultaneously by using inhibitors to stop the symptoms. This would require the use of either physician-prescribed or OTC (over the counter) medications. There are man...

5 Sneaky Tips To Fool Your Body Into Exercising

Image
Every year, millions of people commit to losing weight by exercising. Perhaps you've even made a promise to add more exercise into your day.  Your day-to-day routine may keep you from staying with a program for longer than a few weeks or months. Sometimes you may even get bored with the routines. This can keep you from shedding a single pound and in some cases even cause you to gain additional unwanted weight.  If you dread the very thought of exercise, take a look at these tips.  Time to change tactics this year, time to fool your body into exercise! Sneaky Tip #1 – Do Something You Enjoy Exercise doesn't always mean spending hours at the gym peddling away on a stationary bike or working out on an elliptical machine. It doesn't even mean you have to spend tons of money on work out equipment you will likely never use either.  Anything you do to get your body moving could be considered a form of exercise. For example, walking is an easy exercise that...
