Ikigai Mini-review
Hi! I'm Carol and I'm one of the content creators here on "Relax and Reclaim".
I just finished reading "Ikigai" by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles. This book is (to me anyway) like a warm hug for your soul with a side of sushi!
Their book dives into the Japanese concept of "ikigai," which basically means your reason for being. So, if you've ever wondered what the heck you’re doing with your life while staring blankly at your cereal in the morning, this might just be your new best friend.
The authors take you on this lighthearted journey through Okinawa, where the locals are not just living long lives but seem to be thriving like well-watered bonsai trees.
They share interviews and stories of centenarians who reveal that having a purpose – or ikigai – can add zest to your life, like the secret ingredient in your grandma's famous soup.
The book is with practical advice, like the importance of maintaining good relationships and finding joy in the little things. It’s like the authors are gently nudging you to stop scrolling through the endless abyss of social media and take a deep breath.
Seriously, just reading about their daily habits made me want to put down my snacks and do some yoga (okay, I looked at my yoga mat, does that count?).
One thing I absolutely loved was the lightness of the writing. The humor sprinkled throughout kept me chuckling, and I felt like I was chatting with a friend over coffee rather than slogging through a self-help book.
Plus, it’s the kind of read that you can pick up and put down without feeling guilty, perfect for those who can’t commit to a Sunday afternoon.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a little inspiration to spice up your or just some delightful reading that reminds you to appreciate the sunshine on your face, "Ikigai" is the way to go.
Who knows?
You might just discover that passion you’ve been searching for – or at the very least, what you really want for dinner. Go grab a copy and start your journey to your ikigai!
