Sunflower Surprise: A Twist on Traditional Pasta Primavera

Image
Here's a dish that will surely be appreciated by your family and guests. Pasta Primavera, but with a twist: sunflower kernels! The word primavera has an interesting history as well. Originating from Latin, the word "verano" has a fascinating history. Composed of two parts, "prima" meaning before or early, and "vera" linked to an Indo-European root meaning shine, it originally referred to the period before the Summer or the beginning of sunshine. Interestingly, while "prima" is still used in Italian, "vera" did not make its way into the language. Instead, it found a home in Spanish, where it is used to describe the Summer season.  So next time you're enjoying the warm weather, remember that the word "verano" has roots in ancient languages and a rich cultural history. Anyway try out this easy recipe below and watch as the praises flood in! Sunflower Seed Penne Primavera 12 ounces uncooked pen...

Breaking The Cycle Of Victimhood Part 2: Finding The Strength Within

What can you do to improve your health overall? Work out? Eat right? Well, when it comes to improving your health—whether physical, emotional, or mental—we often find ourselves looking backward.  We try to analyze the patterns, the triggers, the “why” behind how we got here. And while that self-reflection matters, there’s something just as important that we often overlook: what we choose to do next. If you can change your mind (or change HOW your mind perceives things) you can change your world. Let's do this! Understanding the Power of “What’s Next” It’s common to fixate on the events or habits that left us feeling broken, stuck, or off balance. Maybe it was burnout, chronic stress, a health scare, or a series of poor choices. But pinpointing the cause of our struggles isn't the same thing as healing from them. This unfortunately, keeps us in the victimhood mindset. Rather than staying stuck in the "why," try asking: "How can I make this situation into a ste...

Breaking the Cycle of Victimhood Part 1: Identifying The Mindset

Image
Here at Relax and Reclaim we tend to focus on health, nutrition, and weight loss. These are extremely important subjects for discussion and we do our best to stay on topic.  Your physical health is crucial, but it's only a part of the total of you. There's also the subject of mental wellness. This is an equally important subject as well. We're going to tackle the victim mindset this time. Let's get into this.. Are You A Victim? If you’re not feeling good about yourself, it’s crucial to take action and make a change. There's just no alternative.  By addressing this, you can cultivate healthy relationships, and along the way (maybe even) find a level of fulfillment in your job.  Personally, I spent a good portion of my life feeling unworthy. It was suggested that I read some books that were supposed to help me to re-evaluate my state of mind at that point. I followed the recommendations I received and ultimately found no solutions. It wasn't a completely fruitless...

Not So Fast

Image
Overeating can cause gas bloating as well as abdominal discomfort. This also causes the digestive system to function abnormally as it's only able to break down significantly smaller portions of food on a gradual basis.  It's like filling up or over stuffing a bag without ever considering its capacity to endure compiled material. One of the main purposes for fasting is to detoxify or purify your body from various impurities. It gives your body the opportunity to fine-tune itself for complete balance . Fasting is a vital part of maintaining a balanced and healthy life. I'd like to briefly describe to you five highly effective fasting techniques. A trained medical professional should always be consulted before starting any alternative health therapies.Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the reader and not with this site or the author.  If you have any questions about whether or not fasting is a viable option, you should always consult with your physician first....
