5 Sneaky Tips To Fool Your Body Into Exercising
Every year, millions of people commit to losing weight by exercising. Perhaps you've even made a promise to add more exercise into your day.
Your day-to-day routine may keep you from staying with a program for longer than a few weeks or months. Sometimes you may even get bored with the routines. This can keep you from shedding a single pound and in some cases even cause you to gain additional unwanted weight.
If you dread the very thought of exercise, take a look at these tips. Time to change tactics this year, time to fool your body into exercise!
Sneaky Tip #1 – Do Something You Enjoy
Exercise doesn't always mean spending hours at the gym peddling away on a stationary bike or working out on an elliptical machine. It doesn't even mean you have to spend tons of money on work out equipment you will likely never use either.
Anything you do to get your body moving could be considered a form of exercise. For example, walking is an easy exercise that you can do anywhere, in any climate. If you have a partner to talk to, it can be a breeze to walk several miles (just remember your way back home) before you even realize it.
Dancing, gardening, working on a project you may have put off months ago, swimming, playing a favorite sport, house cleaning and even playing in the yard with your kids or dog are just some of the ways you can sneakily add exercise into your daily routine.

Sneaky Tip #2 – Schedule for "Exercise"
Sometimes the only way to make time to exercise is to put it on your daily schedule. We've all got busy lives and we’re often so busy taking care of others that we never seem to make time for ourselves. Once exercise becomes part of your daily to-do list, you’re more likely to do it.
Some people have only a certain time during the day available for exercise while others will have to vary the time each day. Some people need a nudge and for them, exercising with a friend is a good solution.
Choose whichever way works best for you. Just remember to actually go and do it!

Sneaky Tip #3 – Can We Please Energize???
There will always be times when you'll feel too tired to exercise. Try this psychological trick out: strip down to your undies and look at yourself in the mirror, like what you see? If you are serious about weight loss then you'll get moving.
A good stretch can get your blood to flowing and help you warm up to some light exercising like a few simple push-ups. Besides, you will be shocked to find how energized you feel when you’re finished.
Exercise is a great stress-reliever too. One other benefit of exercise is a marked stamina improvement in..... (ahem!) intimate relations....

Sneaky Tip #4 – Mix it up
Just like anything that is done over and over again, exercise can become mundane. It is a well known fact that if you become bored with anything you do daily, you’re less likely to keep interest in it.
To keep from getting bored with your workout routine, switch it up. If you’re a walker, try cycling sometimes. If you’re into weight lifting, try alternating this with an aerobic routine from time to time. Go bowling or play a game of tennis once in a while, and if you find you enjoy these types of activities, join up with a team.
Sometimes finding people with similar interests can perk up your enthusiasm in a healthy activity.

Sneaky Tip #5 – Stretching Is Your Friend
I can't say it enough, stretching is absolutely the best type of physical activity you can do. Regardless of the type of exercise you choose, it is very important that you begin each session by warming up your muscles. Stretching helps prevent damage to muscle tissue and it gets your blood flowing.
It gets your heart pumping, too. Just five minutes is all it takes to get your exercise session off to a good start.

Great article, Kurt! I've been trying to motivate myself to work out for years. I always get on a routine and then I either lose interest or I make up excuses to not do it. The way that you describe may actually help me increase my fat burning and add a few hours to my work outs naturally. Our grandkids will be coming by this weekend. I'll see if I can get them to help me lose some pounds. Real sneaky, real sneaky!

ReplyDeleteMotivation is key to gaining the results you seek in any goal. The problem always is how to go about finding motivation when you need it. I have noted one word that will assist you in your endeavors...repetition. This is a hard thing to do when you only think of repetition in the negative sense (ex. lack of variety), but if you apply some of the methods from "Sneaky Tip #4" for about 30 days, you will find it become easier each day. I hope that helps!
