The Basics: Herbs In Your Home

Those of you that follow this blog regularly will probably recall my original "Basics Series".

I brought that series out for the benefit of my new readers who may have been unfamiliar with herbal therapies. The other parts, of course, are available via archives, table of contents (TOC), and internal blog search. Feel free to read and share them.

This brings me to my newest series which is simply titled "The Basics 2". My previous series was in three parts. I'm not sure if I'll make this series quite that long (or longer), but I wanted to provide you with some additional content on the subject. Once again, feel free to share and read....

Over the years, numerous medical professionals have come to recognize the therapeutic capabilities of commonly-used herbs to treat and prevent various illnesses.

At one time, this was considered "fringe medicine" by a majority of medical professionals and was rejected in many scientific circles.

Despite modern thinkers insistence on maintaining current theoretical practices, diseases have progressed far beyond medical theories.

Many "common" maladies have evolved into diseases only dreamed of in science fiction novels & films. In short, the "common cold" is no longer common.

Numerous chemically-based treatment options have been rendered ineffective as viral infections are becoming more resistant to modern medical treatments.

This leaves the obstinate medical academic with a conundrum of whether their current methodologies are even worth holding onto or should they simply try something different.

Let's face it, theories are only as good as they remain relevant.

Many centuries of research and field experimentation have gone into natural or herbal sciences. As a direct result, many uses for plants have been created either singularly or in compounds.

Precise measurements had to be followed to the letter by herbalists that prescribed the treatments. Trial and error made a lot of herbal concoctions effective in resolving numerous illnesses.

Quite often, the herbalist would use themselves as test subjects for their medicinal treatments. The therapies often involved minute or even drastic dietary modifications in order for the various concoctions to work properly.

The positive results of herbal remedies are simply
undeniable.

Garlic--a natural antibiotic that also helps to reduce cholesterol levels

A natural remedy can be contained in anything from tea to simple or even complex preparations of herbal compounds commonly used in old world disease treatments.

These medicament come in many forms such as capsules, pills, ointments, and gels. Many people use herbs as foods and seasonings.

Cinnamon--great for lowering blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides

Some of these herbs may also be combined with other effective natural products to achieve a desired positive health result. Modern medical technology is often quite useful for trauma and surgery, but at times can be ineffectual for disease prevention or cure.

The increasing costs of medical treatment has caused many patients to seek natural products as a more affordable therapeutic option. As mentioned previously, numerous physicians are also exploring plant-based therapies to treating modern maladies.

Natural cures may also have unwanted side effects just as with conventional medicines.

This should always be considered when seeking alternative treatment options. It's highly recommended that you thoroughly educate yourself about any alternative treatment options you may be considering.

A considerable number of the global population have been using herbals, vitamins, and minerals for many years with very favorable results and minimal adverse effects.

Ginger --prevents motion sickness and lowers risk of blood clots

There are hundreds of natural herbal products available for use by adults, children, and pets. These products are used to remedy countless conditions from angina to arthritis, from digestive system maintenance to skin care, thyroid treatment, urinary tract infection, and a nearly limitless number of other disorders.

Chamomile Tea--calms nerves and help relieve digestive problems

Peppermint--Treats many digestion and gastrointestinal problems

Home health products are introduced almost hourly to the market. Nearly all claim astounding or even "miraculous" curative qualities.

You should only purchase natural products that have a proven track record with unbiased written reviews and/or analyses. Be discriminating if you have to.

Remember, many people have health advocates in their doctors or nurses, but only you are your best health advocate.

Okay, that's my take on this subject. How about yours?
