Unmasking Your Best Face 2: Essential Skincare Tips for Today's Man
We’ve had a few people who've given us some feedback on our article about men's skincare. As always, we appreciate it.
Your feedback helps us improve our content for your enjoyment.
It really does.
We've had a few questions about getting a deep dive 😉 on specific or more advanced skincare techniques for men.
Let's get into this!
Ok, so you’ve got the basics down:
cleanser
moisturizer
sunscreen
Great start!
So, if you’re ready to step it up, there are a few extra tricks that can really keep your skin looking fresh, healthy, and younger for longer.
And no, they’re not complicated. Most of these can be added to your routine in less than a minute.
Here are some next-level skincare tips every guy can use:
Men’s Grooming Guide: Extra Skincare Steps You Absolutely Cannot Skip!
1. Eye Creams Aren’t Just for Women
Why: The skin around your eyes is thinner and ages faster than the rest of your face. That’s why crow’s feet and dark circles show up first.
How: Use a lightweight eye cream morning and night. Just a tiny dab under each eye helps reduce puffiness, fine lines, and “I haven’t slept in a week” circles.
2. Don’t Skip Post-Shave Care
Why: Shaving can cause tiny cuts, irritation, and ingrown hairs.
How: Trade harsh aftershaves for a soothing balm or gel with aloe vera or witch hazel. Your skin will feel calm instead of stinging.
3. Use a Weekly Face Mask
Why: Think of masks as a reset button for your skin. They go deeper than daily cleansers.
How: Clay masks are great for oily skin, while hydrating sheet masks help dry or tired skin bounce back. Once a week is plenty.
4. Take Care of Your Neck (Seriously)
Why: Your neck and jawline are just as visible as your face—and they age too.
How: Extend your cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen down to your neck every day. Don’t stop at the chin.
5. Nighttime = Repair Time
Why: Your skin does its best healing while you sleep.
How: Swap your regular moisturizer for a night cream or richer formula before bed. It’ll lock in hydration and help your skin recover.
6. Keep Your Beard in Check
Why: Beards can trap dirt, oil, and food (yes, even if you didn’t notice). That leads to irritation and breakouts underneath.
How: Use a beard shampoo a few times a week and finish with beard oil to soften both skin and hair.
7. Don’t Neglect Hands and Body
Why: Skincare isn’t just about your face. Rough hands, dry elbows, or flaky shins? Not a great look.
How: Keep a non-greasy hand cream nearby and use a simple body lotion after showering.
“Men's skincare is essential, focusing on cleansing, proper shaving techniques, moisturizing, and using products with natural ingredients and sunscreen for healthier skin.”
8. Manage Stress for Clearer Skin
Why: Stress shows up on your face—literally. It can trigger breakouts, dullness, and wrinkles.
How: Exercise, meditation, or even just a quick walk can lower stress levels. Better mood, better skin.
9. Protect Your Lips Too
Why: Chapped, cracked lips aren’t just uncomfortable—they make you look like you’ve been trekking in the desert.
How: Use a lip balm with SPF during the day and a hydrating one before bed. Easy win.
10. Upgrade Your Pillowcase
Why: Rough fabrics can irritate your skin, and dirty pillowcases collect oil and bacteria.
How: Switch to a smooth cotton or silk pillowcase and wash it weekly. Your skin (and hair) will thank you.
Final Word
Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. Adding even a couple of these extra tips to your routine can make a huge difference in how your skin looks and feels. Start small, stay consistent, and you’ll notice the results.
Your face is your first impression—take care of it.
