Slaying the Dragon — Part 4: The Sacred Weapons of War

The time has now come.

Time to prepare for the battle.

Every hero reaches this moment.

The calm before the storm.

The walk to the armory.

The torches casting shadows on the wall as the camera reveals the rows of weaponry.

Because now you know the truth. The dragon didn't die.

It adapted.

And if the dragon has adapted... you must adapt as well.

Welcome to Part 4. The gear up montage. The chapter where you get to pick your weapons of choice.

Let's open the armory.

Slaying the Dragon — Part 3: The Unwelcomed Return

Your Armaments

1. The Oxygen Blade: Chlorine Dioxide Mouthwash

Forget about those fancy mint flavored mouthwashes.

Alcohol is not your friend when fighting the dragon. In fact, it feeds the beast.

What you need is stabilized chlorine dioxide. This compound doesn't mask the odors like alcohol-based mouthwashes do.

It actually breaks down the Volatile Sulfur Compounds at a molecular level.

Chlorine dioxide targets: hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, and dimethyl sulfide.

These are the nasties responsible for bad breath and they get shattered by the mighty Oxygen blade.

2. The Tongue Scraper: Dragon-Scale Rake

You probably use a toothbrush to clean your tongue. But did you know that a tongue scraper is way more effective?

The tongue is a home to many bacteria which feast on the debris in your mouth and produce the smelly gases as a by-product.

Tongue scraping removes this debris and reduces the number of VSCs by up to 75%. That's a hefty reduction and it will make the dragon rethink its career choices.

3. The Nasal Rinse: Clearing the Sinus Swamp

Does your dragon have a swamp?

Do you have a constant flow of mucus from your sinuses to your throat? If yes... then you need a nasal rinse to clear that swamp.

A saline rinse will flush all the unwanted bacteria, mucus, and debris from your nasal passages reducing the post nasal drip that fuels the dragon.

Think of it as a drain for the swamp.

4. The Hydration Shield: Electrolytes and Water Timing

Do you feel like your mouth is the desert? It probably is.

Combat this dehydration with a steady supply of water throughout the day. Not only will it keep your mouth from becoming a desert, but it will also prevent the dryness that causes bad breath.

It might surprise you to know that it's not the amount of water that's important. It's the timing. Drinking water at regular intervals will keep your body hydrated.

The electrolytes will prevent excessive loss of fluids through urination. Staying hydrated is crucial since it prevents a dry mouth and promotes saliva flow.

And saliva is our natural weapon against the dragon.

5. The Probiotic Spell: Bacteria Balancing

You have two types of bacteria in your mouth. The good guys and the bad guys. Oral probiotics help strengthen the good bacteria which in turn inhibits the growth of the bad guys.

Since the bad guys are in charge of producing the smelly gases, this should greatly reduce the odors. Pretty neat, huh?

6. The Tonsil-Stone Tools: Clearing the Dragon's Lair

If you have tonsil stones, you know they are the dragon's lair. To clear it you will need a few tools such as:

- Oxygenating and debriding sprays

- A gentle irrigator

- Tonsil stone removal kit

- A gargle that can reach the tonsils

These are some pretty special tools. But if you want to clear the dragon's lair, you will need to get them.

7. The Breath Ritual: Morning, Midday, Night

It's not enough to have all the fancy tools and mouthwash, you need to develop a daily ritual as well. This daily battle against the dragon consists of:

- Morning: Tongue scraping followed by a rinse with an oxygenating mouthwash.

- Midday: Drinking plenty of water and breathing through your nose.

- Night: Using a rinse followed by a nasal irrigation to remove any debris or mucus.

*And for those other times you just need a breather....⬇️
