6 Secrets For Faster Hair Growth

Tip #2: Deep Condition Like a Pro

Think of conditioner as your hair’s bodyguard. It shields your strands from humidity and damage and gives them that smooth, silky look.

  1. Apply conditioner from mid-length to ends (unless your scalp is super dry—then go all the way up).
  2. Let it sit for at least 3–5 minutes. This gives it time to soak in.

Tip #5: Invest in a Quality Flat Iron

If you use a straightener regularly, cheap tools can do more harm than good. Look for one with:

  • Ceramic or tourmaline plates – These heat evenly and reduce breakage.
  • Adjustable temperature settings – Not all hair needs the highest heat!
  • Rounded edges – Great for styling waves or curls, too.

Always use a heat protectant spray before styling to prevent long-term damage.

Tip #6: Shampoo the Right Way

Washing your hair seems simple, but a few small tweaks can make a big difference.

Do:

  • Wet your hair completely before applying shampoo.
  • Use a dime-to-quarter-sized amount, depending on your hair length.
  • Focus on the scalp (not the ends).
  • Rinse thoroughly—leftover product can cause buildup and itchiness.

Don’t:

  • Wash every single day if you don’t need to. Two to three times a week is enough for most hair types.
  • Avoid using products not intended for your hair type. Color-treated hair? Get color-safe shampoo. Dry scalp? Look for hydrating formulas.

  1. I certainly did learn something useful from your article, Cierra (I hope you don't mind if I call you Cierra). I liked your comparison of hair conditioner to fabric softener. It really makes sense. I never really understood why my hair always seemed to get frizzy even when it wasn't humid outside.

    Now this makes it clearer than day. Do you have any suggestions about brittle hair?

  2. I really appreciate your comment Janina this is my first article and yes its okay for you to call me Cierra. For dry brittle hair I will recommend that you warm up a couple of teaspoons of olive oil in saucepan then massage it into your scalp and wrap your hair in a towel and shampoo it out. You should do this at least once a week. After a couple of months you see less breakage and stronger, silkier hair. Try it out and let me know how it turned out.
